How To Whiten Teeth With Baking Soda And Hydrogen Peroxide

If you choose to whiten your teeth with hydrogen peroxide, do so cautiously. If you have any concerns, see your dentist, who can give you advice on the best way to whiten for your dental health. Whiten Teeth With Strawberries: What to do & Why this works

  1. How To Whiten Teeth With Strawberries
  2. Do strawberries help whiten your teeth?
  3. Does eating strawberries whiten your teeth?
  4. Is strawberry and baking soda good for your teeth?

1. Do strawberries help whiten your teeth?

"The only benefit of the do-it-yourself method — strawberries and baking soda — is, while it seems to make your teeth look whiter, they look whiter because you're just removing plaque accumulation on your teeth," Kwon said in a statement. "You really want something that penetrates into your teeth and breaks down the stain molecules. If you don't have that, you get just the superficial, and not the whitening from the inside, which was what you really want."

The main reason the strawberry and baking-soda recipe failed to work is that the mixture lacks the chemicals hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide, which are key ingredients in tooth-whitening products, according to the American Dental Association.

2. Does eating strawberries whiten your teeth?

According to Dr. Irwin Smigel, president of the American Society for Dental Aesthetics, the fruit's malic acid is a natural astringent that removes surface tooth discoloration. For a stronger whitening solution, you can also combine a strawberry with baking soda for a natural tooth whitener, but you shouldn't do this more than once a week because of the risk of enamel damage.

Either way, strawberries may be a delicious, less expensive alternative to commercial teeth-whitening products.

By Kahli Merriman: Even if you're lazy, it still helps!
I hate brushing my teeth and taking the time for oral hygiene care, hence why I needed a product to help me with that. These pictures are exactly a month apart and I only used the product about 3-5 times a week. I wasn't sure if it was actually helping but it is quite obvious from the photo that with even a small amount of usage, it does! I also love that the product is all natural and organic! I would highly recommend this product especially for the painless price.

By gerardo garcia: Gets Results but at a Cost
I might be the random customer this happened to but as soon as I received the package I opened the container slowly and POOF black dust shot up everywhere onto my furniture/face/everywhere from just a slow twist open. Product works great just be careful when you first receive and open because it can leave a mess that's hard to get out.

4. Is it safe to brush your teeth with charcoal?

I have to admit, I was quite shocked when I first saw activated charcoal being used for teeth whitening. My first reaction was there was no way this could be safe!

In 1834, an American physician used activated charcoal to save the life of a patient who accidentally ingested mercury chloride. Since then, many safe and effective uses of the substance have been discovered, including using it to brush your teeth.

Can activated charcoal safely whiten teeth? There’s no formal evidence that activated charcoal whitens teeth.

However, activated charcoal has been FDA approved for many health uses. The American Dental Association has not currently approved any activated charcoal products for dentistry.

However, if your tooth discoloration is below the surface, you may not see a difference after using charcoal toothpaste. Additionally, the American Dental Association (ADA) has a few warnings about the stuff. Since charcoal toothpaste isn’t only porous but also pretty abrasive it can be damaging to teeth. Regularly brushing your teeth with a highly abrasive toothpaste can wear away tooth enamel and leave your teeth at risk for cavity-causing bacteria. A thinner enamel may also mean a duller discolored smile.

5. Does charcoal toothpaste really work?

Charcoal toothpaste is made from something called activated charcoal, which is a treated form of carbon. The treating process makes the carbon porous. It’s these pores that are reasonable for the claim that charcoal toothpaste can whiten teeth. Essentially, it’s believed that these pores can pull stains, tartar, and bacteria away from teeth.

Charcoal toothpaste can effectively remove surface stains on teeth, allowing them to take on a brighter, whiter appearance.

Turmeric powder is a gentle abrasive that can removing surface stains to reveal whiter teeth. Turmeric is naturally anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial which makes it a great choice for natural dental care.

1. Is turmeric good for teeth whitening?

Study showed that curcumin in turmeric can prevent gingivitis, or gum disease. It helped remove plaque, bacteria, and inflammation comparably well with traditional mouthwashes, when used properly.

Some compare turmeric’s teeth whitening effects to baking soda or activated charcoal for teeth whitening. It may have similar potential, but take more time than whitening strips, for example.

As of now, however, turmeric is not considered a solid replacement for medical cosmetic teeth whitening treatments. Nor can it be considered a replacement for general oral health care.

It’s not the color of drinks/food that stain teeth, but the acidity that opens the pores in the tooth enamel which allows staining. Strong enamel does not stain! says Dr. Ellie Phillips.

I have been making a drink with lemon, turmeric, honey, pepper and hot water. I’m VERY careful with the turmeric because it stains my countertop. However, I have not noticed my teeth staining, but I worried about it, so I did some research.

Ingredients:
1/4 teaspoon organic turmeric powder (where to buy organic turmeric)
1/8 teaspoon melted coconut oil (where to buy coconut oil)
Method:
1. Dip your toothbrush in the paste and brush teeth as normal, but instead of rinsing when you’re done allow the paste to sit on your teeth for 3-5 minutes so that it can do it’s magic.

2. Spit and rinse thoroughly, then follow with a second brushing using your regular tooth powder/toothpaste. If you notice any yellow around the corners of your mouth, wash with soap and it will rinse away. Likewise, if any turmeric powder is left on your teeth or gums it will cause a slight yellow tint, but when the turmeric is fully rinsed away you should notice a brighter, whiter smile. I personally think this homemade tooth soap is the most effective at removing the turmeric so you can see the results underneath.

If not, give it a few days to a week – if you’re skeptical I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

How To Whiten Teeth at Home with coconut oil and baking soda

  1. Coconut oil and baking soda teeth whitening review
  2. Coconut oil and baking soda teeth whitening before and after
  3. How to whiten teeth with coconut oil
Coconut oil is antibacterial, antimicrobial, and antifungal! Studies have shown that coconut oil destroys the bacteria that can cause tooth decay. The other primary ingredient in this toothpaste is baking soda. Baking soda is a very mild abrasive which aids in cleaning and whitening teeth, and restoring pH balance.

1. Coconut oil and baking soda teeth whitening review

By Mere0322: Make your own

Applying this thick paste to your brush is nearly impossible and double dipping the scoop it came with is just gross. I decided to make my own, I used coconut oil, baking soda, peppermint extract and a little bit of olive oil to thin out the coconut oil. I warmed everything, mixed and put in a squeezy bottle. Wa-la, for pennies I have an easy to apply all natural toothpaste.

By Dan T: Love this product

Love this product, will be getting more. Wish it was a bit cheaper but still a great product. The benefits of coconut oil are real! Great for receding gum and/or fighting bacteria!

By Amazon Customer: Not a toothpaste for summertime

Its nice from what I have used. I have decided though, because it is so liquidy, and it is impractical for me to keep it in the fridge and then run downstairs to get my toothpaste each time I need to brush, I decided this would be my winter toothpaste. It does a good job of cleaning teeth, just not the right toothpaste for summertime.

2. Coconut oil and baking soda teeth whitening before and after

The color of your teeth is primarily determined by the color of your dentin, the layer under the enamel. Enamel is semi-transparent. So if the sublayer is yellow, your teeth will seem yellow.

“Whitening” your teeth requires the the pigmented oil soluble pigments that found their way deep into your enamel and dentin, to be broken down into water soluble, transparent materials. This can be accompanied by “oxidizing” them using something like hydrogen peroxide (actually it is the perhydroxyl ion, an ionized form of it that does the trick). This can be done in the dentist’s office or at home over time.

So, I would not rely on coconut oil and baking soda to “whiten my teeth”. A “normal” toothpaste (with a higher pH than baking soda) will be more abrasive and will remove more stains (under the same conditions) thereby “brightening” your teeth.

Best Answer:1 -Brush your teeth as usual with a natural toothpaste or you can use the banana peel first and then brush.

-Use a ripe banana as it has the most potassium content in it. Peel from the bottom end as this is how monkeys peel their bananas and it will keep you from having all those loose threads.

-Gently rub on teeth

-Take a piece of the inside of the banana peel and gently rub around on your teeth for about 2 minutes.

*The amazing minerals in the peel like potassium, magnesium and manganese absorb into your teeth and whiten them.

-Repeat the same procedure at night or before bedtime, to whiten teeth. Leaving the banana peel on longer is optional if you have stains that need to come off.

*Do the banana peel routine twice daily.

Hope this helps, I'm workin on whitenin my teeth also! :)

Best Answer 2: Try rubbing a ripe banana peel on your teeth every day. Simply use the inside of a banana peel to massage your teeth for at least two minutes before brushing. You should see a stunning improvement in your smile in as little as two weeks.
